A Short History
of the Deltaville Maritime Museum
& Holly Point Nature Park

In the fall of 2001, a small group of individuals, interested in establishing a maritime museum in Deltaville, began investigating the possibility of using property donated to Middlesex County in 1990 by Ms. Pette Clark. Several of these individuals were board members of the Deltaville Community Association: Blanche Scharf, Gene Ruark, Raynell Smith, and John Koedel. The DCA, having a long history of sponsoring organizations that benefit the community, proposed to lease the Clark property from the County to create both a park and a museum. A board was established to oversee the project and in September 2002, a five-year lease was signed for the Jackson Creek Rd. portion of the Clark property. In 2004, Clarkova was added to a new ten-year lease. The museum and nature park encompass over thirty acres and include two houses, numerous outbuildings, three docks, and a small boat launching area.
